Honoring a Lifetime of Service

Maria Cordis, RSM, Ph.D., '50, a beloved professor emerita of English and former Georgian Court president, received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on May 20, 2016. Sister Maria Cordis, an accomplished poet, retired from teaching in 2011, after more than five decades in the classrooms of Georgian Court. During her tenure as the sixth president of then-Georgian Court College from 1974 to 1980, the first master's program, an M.A. in Education, began and the co-educational undergraduate program was instituted.
