Georgian Court University was notified by one of our third-party vendors, Blackbaud, a cloud software company, that in May, 2020 it had been the target of a ransomware attack.
Blackbaud is a long-time vendor partner and one of the world’s largest providers of education administration, fundraising, and financial management software for non-profits in the education and healthcare industries. Georgian Court University was one of hundreds of non-profit organizations served by Blackbaud that were impacted by this ransomware attack. The hacker was able to access a subset of Blackbaud’s data, which included some of Georgian Court University’s information. Blackbaud paid the cybercriminal’s demand with confirmation that the copy it removed had been destroyed. Based on the nature of the incident, Blackbaud’s research, and third party (including law enforcement) investigation, Blackbaud has no reason to believe that any data went beyond the cybercriminal, was or will be misused; or will be disseminated or otherwise made available publicly.
